Our Extra Special Pet
Copper is a 9 month old miniature dachshund that was born blind. The veterinarians were unable to determine the cause, and say that he is otherwise in perfect health. After caring for him for him for his whole life, his owner decided it was too difficult to care for a special needs dog, and left him in a drop box at Animal Control. Copper is very affectionate, and adapts very quickly. Once he learns his way around, he has no problems navigating his environment. Because he can not see, loud noises and unexpected changes frighten him, but he reacts only with gentle protest. He would love to be in a forever home that understands his special needs, and seems to enjoy the company of other dogs as his “help mates”. Copper will make a loving, forever grateful pet when he is adopted.
